About the CHS Library

Mission:

The mission of the Community High School library is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information, and that students are empowered to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information and technology. 

Hours*:

• Monday/Wednesday/Friday: 8:00 AM-3:35 PM
• Tuesday/Thursday: 8:00 AM-2:00 PM 

*Hours vary on early release days and "Not School As Usual" days, and the library is closed during lunch the third Wednesday of each month.

Students and staff may borrow:

• Books (actual real, printed, physical books!)--fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, poetry, biographies...
• Audiobooks (Sora)
• eBooks (Sora)
• DVDs (staff only)

Also available:

• Online databases
• Chromebooks, battery charging blocks (for school devices, not personal phones), headphones (with or without microphone)--for use in school only. NOTE: Students are expected to bring their school-issued MacBook and charging cable to school EVERY day. The Chromebooks and charging blocks are for emergency use only, or when a MacBook has been turned in for repairs.
• Charging station for MacBooks
• Supplies, including colored pencils, markers, glue sticks, tape, paper (white, lined, graph), and scissors, to work on projects in the library
• Printer to print school materials and homework

Library Material Loan Periods*:

• Books (print): 3 weeks
• Sora eBooks & eAudio: 4 weeks
• DVDs: 2 weeks
• Chromebooks (for emergency use—students are expected to bring their school-issued MacBook to school EVERY day.): 1 school day, for use in school only
• Battery packs (to charge MacBook—for emergency use—students are expected to bring their school-issued charging cable to school EVERY day.): 1 block/class period
• Headphones: 1 block/class period

*See or email the librarian to arrange for longer loan periods, as needed, and to renew materials.

Returns:

• Library books go in the bin just inside library door.
• Equipment: can be left on the library circulation desk.
• When the library is closed, please return items to the Main Office.
• Books for classes (borrowed from the Book Depository or Main Office) need to be returned to the Main Office.
